Volume 5, Issue 3: November 2025

In this episode, I talk to Moraine Valley freshman Arela Hernandez, who is majoring in landscape architecture. She discusses her anxiety around starting a new year, as well as making that hard decision to go to community college instead of a university. We also discuss how much of an impact family has on Arela’s academic life.

Coffee with Catalina is back! Just a quick episode to chat about what’s been going on and why I might’ve disappeared at the end of season one. In this quick episode I talk about how life really isn’t all sunshine, and the anxiety and pressure of starting a new semester. If you’ve been feeling like this, well, you’re not alone.

We’re starting off the new year a bit different. On this episode I’ll be riding solo diving into 2024 because what in the world was happening. 12 months of loss, grief, and finding the light at the end of the tunnel, it sure was a heck of a ride.

In this first part we dive into how we met and how your life can change in a blink of an eye and how it will impact your day-to-day life. We talk about the importance of being grateful for the time you’ve had and still have with your loved ones.

As a first-year college student, I sure have had a few changes in my life. You can probably relate. To celebrate the first episode of Coffee with Catalina, let’s discuss these changes and let you, the listeners, learn more about me, Catalina, with the help of my special guest Emily Stephens, who asks me different questions about my life.
