Gaza is facing a “humanitarian situation of colossal magnitude,” according to Tamara Alrifai, spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.
“Humanitarians must be able to safely access children and their families with lifesaving services and supplies — wherever they may be,” said UNICEF spokesperson James Elder. “In every war, the ones who suffer the most are children. This is tragically true today.”
Although it’s easy to feel helpless and overwhelmed when seeing the news, many organizations are working to help. Here is a partial list of them and how you can donate.
Doctors Without Borders
Also known as Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF, Doctors Without Borders is an “independent and impartial medical humanitarian organization” that provides medical care “with empathy and compassion to all patients, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity or politics,” according to its website.
MSF has called for a ceasefire to allow help to get to the people of Gaza: “As the Israeli military expands its ground operations in Gaza and civilians there endure the heaviest bombardment since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) today reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to prevent more deaths and allow the entry of desperately needed humanitarian supplies.”

Anera
Anera has been in operation since 1968, striving to “help refugees and others hurt by conflicts in Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan live with purpose and hope,” according to its website.
It has no political or religious affiliation, but works on the ground to mobilize resources “for immediate emergency relief and for sustainable, long-term health, education, and economic development.” The website says, “Our staff serve in their communities, navigating the politics that constrict progress to get help where it’s needed most.”
You can donate here to help Anera respond to “the immense humanitarian need in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.”
World Central Kitchen
WCK is working with Anera to locally source supplies to cook hot meals and assemble food kits.
The organization is “working nonstop to access and distribute food and water resources that were within the borders before the total blockade of Gaza began. But the clock is ticking, and resources are running low,” according to the website.
Donations are needed to support emergency food relief efforts.
Muslim Aid USA
MAUSA is addressing immediate needs such as food packages, hygiene kits and other basic necessities, and “delivering essential medical aid and equipment to the main hospitals in Gaza.”
MAUSA is seeking donations to help those who are suffering.
Zakat Foundation of America
The Zakat Foundation provides more long-term support, helping to repair damaged homes, cover the costs of medical treatment for pediatric cancer patients, and providing orphaned children with access to education, health care, and food.
On their website, you can direct your donation toward specific needs.
UNICEF
According to its website, “UNICEF continues to focus on the critical needs of children for protection and humanitarian assistance – but access remains difficult and dangerous. Humanitarians have been warned to move out of Gaza city, but UNICEF staff will stay in southern Gaza to continue to provide support for children in need.”
