Volume 5, Issue 3: November 2025

I don’t understand what the man is saying to me

Taking passionately about subjects I’ve never known

Using terminology I can’t picture in my mind

Everything he said was foreign to me

But I knew every word

I understood the grammar

The start and end of phrases

Every consonant and vowel sound

But here I am

Watching peacefully as he speaks

The words that don’t make sense

I love the way he speaks about something

That means nothing to me

Even though I have never learned what he speaks of

I will listen to him over and over again

And stare in awe and wonder

I’ll decipher every word

While he gets lost in the details

As he explains the where, when, what, and why

I don’t understand what the man is saying

But it means everything to me
