Yousef Faraz Shahzad made his arrival into this world at 12:09 p.m. on Friday, September 13th, 2024.
It was one of those days that felt both extraordinary and ordinary at the same time. It was a normal fall day, and nobody was ready for what was in store.
Everyone was doing their own thing and getting ready for school. I was getting ready to drop off Aaira when my mom suddenly yelled to call the ambulance.
Everyone was panicked and acting frantic. For all we knew, the baby wasn’t supposed to come for another two weeks. When everything was calm, the girls were at school, and everyone was safe.
The excitement in the air was inevitable. I was going to be a big sister. AGAIN! We didn’t know what the gender was, and I was eagerly waiting to find out.
Our family had been awaiting his arrival, and when the moment finally came, it felt like time itself had fully stopped.
He was absolutely beautiful.
When I looked at him, I felt so happy, I started crying.
I can never forget the moment when he was in my arms. He was literally godsent. He was so tiny, with those tiny fingers and toes, and the way he looked up at me with those wide, curious eyes was something I’ll never forget.
He was wrapped in a delicate blanket, and he had skin that was soft and slightly wrinkled, as if he were a grandpa. His hair was thick and beautifully black. His brown eyes were bright and curious, peering through his thick long lashes. His tiny hands, with fingers so delicate they seemed almost too fragile to be real, were tightly curled into tiny fists around my pinky.
These hands, though small, were strong and full of potential. His feet, equally small and warm, were curled up inside the swaddle. His arrival didn’t mark just the birth of a new life but the happiness of our family bonds and the beginning of countless memories.
Yousef’s birth is a celebration of life, a reminder of the incredible journey. It was a beautiful moment when the ordinary became extraordinary.
