Volume 5, Issue 3: November 2025

The Sun burned. She burned hot, fiery flames that hurt people who dared to get close, but when she touched the right people, they were able to be embraced in her flame, not burning due to hurt but burning because she lit up their lives.

She never knew that, though. The Sun could be told that a million times, and she would never believe it. She was told she was too much, hurt the ones she loved, and wasn’t important by the most minuscule people, but those people were still made up of the same things that the stars were, so they remained important to her and their words hurt and burned just like she allegedly did to them.

It was an endless cycle for The Sun. She met new people who accepted her for her flames, but when they were hit with her ash, they would flee. She didn’t know what was wrong with her, but she knew something was, that this would continue.

The one person who stayed throughout the ashes burning and the inferno was The Moon. The Moon never ran. She and The Moon were connected by the universe. They were brought into each other’s lives by the universe and the galaxies. They became the thing to light up each other’s lives.

Without The Sun, the world was dark. There was nothing left to keep the flame alive in The Moon’s world.

But Earth keeps spinning on its axis and everything has to keep moving.

That’s exactly what The Sun knew. The Sun knew that after her departure, the world would keep spinning and everyone would keep going and move on. That gave her a sense of peace. That the world wouldn’t be lost without her presence. These thoughts provided her comfort throughout her remaining days. It was bittersweet, but she knew everything would continue.

The Sun didn’t realize as the planets and cosmos kept turning, The Moon couldn’t ever exist without her.
